  6. This HyperCard 2.4 Update adds some new features, including QuickTime functionality, and fixes problems with the HyperCard application. This product updates HyperCard 2.3 or 2.3.5 to HyperCard 2.4.

  10. The full release of HyperCard 2.4, bundled with software including QuickTime 3.0, and new Help stacks and manuals, is available at your Apple-authorized dealer.

  13. To Install HyperCard 2.4

  15. Double-click the Installer and follow the installation instructions that appear in the Installer window.

  20. Several exciting features have been added with the release of HyperCard 2.4, including:

  22. • an improved movie button task that allows you to open any QuickTime-readable file
  23. • ability to open movie and some image files by dragging them onto the HyperCard application icon
  24. • a new Link to URL button task and HyperTalk command for connecting to a web site
  25. • ability to manipulate QuickTime movies using HyperTalk
  26. • keyboard navigation of QuickTime VR movies
  27. • ability to open a nearly unlimited number of files using HyperTalk
  28. • enhanced script editor window for easier navigation
  29. • improved Picture XCMD
  30. • more script commands and new syntax

  35. Problems Fixed

  37. These changes have been made to HyperCard since version 2.3.5:
  38.  
  39. • Fixed a problem that prevented HyperCard’s floating windows from collapsing properly under Mac OS 8.0 or later.
  40. • Fixed a problem that could cause the system to freeze when a very large stack was opened on a fast computer.
  41. • Fixed a problem that occurred on PowerPC-based computers when a field contained more than 32K of text and style information.
  42. • Fixed a problem that could cause the movie command callback ExtToStr to return bad data.
  43. • Fixed a problem that prevented HyperCard from properly playing uncompressed 16-bit mono sounds.
  44. • HyperCard now quits properly when a script window is active.
  45. • The “ß” character is no longer treated as a word delimiter in fields.
